Mickelson the flop is back to his old ways of self destructing. This is a time to assert himself while Tigers is off.
Did ya see the chili dip on the green today?? What was that Nacho Phil?

Phil choked. If you have any lead going into the 18th and lose the lead and then lose the playoff it is considered an official choke. Phil could contend with Tiger depending on the course. Mostly Tiger has an advantage though.

Unfortunately Phil collapsed. He had it in his grasp, and made a couple of bad shots.
He again had it in the extra holes and flubbed it.
I just hope he can come back from it, and play more good golf this year. Last year, after his collapse, he never recovered.
Tiger needs some kind of competition.

Lefty definately collapsed. He was getting lucky all day. For example 14th hole, he lucked out by using his utility driver for that "chip/putt" in for birdie. After that he wasn't able to be aggressive and make any more birdies. However, with the amount of chances present for Lefty to take control and put Charles away, he wasn't and I would consider it a minor collapse. It was 3 holes not 4 as mentioned by another user.

I think its a little bit of both.
Phil had the tournament and he lost it. he hit a bad drive and had a very tough 2nd shot which he then turned into a difficult 3rd shot. He should have just played conservative and played to the middle of the green, but thats just not his style.
Howell played great though, sinking crucial putts at the 18th in regulation and in the sudden death, then the great recovery chip 3rd shot on 10.
I dont think Phil flat out blew it, but Howell definetly capitalized on the opprotunity.

Whatever Hefty .. I mean "Lefty" .. does in Tourneys that are TDNP ("Tiger-Did-Not-Play") is second rate no matter what the outcome. Let's see "pretty-boy Mick" successfully stare down Tiger head-to-head in a major -- with both of them in the last group on Sunday -- before any talk of Mickey shaking the Wing Foot demons starts.

Howell chipped off the cart path and still made par! He won it for sure. That being said...Phil did chili-dip a shot on 9, and his short game looked like a 10 handicapper's.

The guy can't settle for par. Just like the US Open, has to hit the driver, instead of the 3 Wood.

I wouldn't call -16, 66-65-69-68 a choke. He muffed a chip and a 2' putt. The championship was his to win, but no one is perfect. That doesn't mean that he choked.
