All along when Ive done this I have been able to copy and paste the scanned pic into Word and edit it there, then save it to a folder. It suited me fine. Then I downloaded Picassa 2 . Trouble.
Now my pics, when scanned, open in a thing called Adobe Photo Album or something. What they opened in before I haven't a clue but it wasn't this. When I copy and paste, all that moves is the pictures title, not the pic!
So, I uninstalled Picassa but the problem is that my pics still open in Adobe. Can anyone help me with this, please?

Adobe Photo Album reset your file associations when you installed it.

In WinXP...

Open Windows Explorer.

Click Tools/Folder Options and then File Types tab.

Scroll down to the file extension that you need to change.
(Do you save your scans as .jpg or .jpeg files?)

Anyway, whichever file type it is, click it.

Below, you will see the details for opening the file.
Click "Change" and select the program you want to open it with.
(You may need to browse for it)
Microsoft Photo Editor will do.

What you need is Optical Character Recognition software. This will take the scanned image and extract the text from it. There are lots of commercial products out there. If you don't mind editing the page after the scan is done, you can use any of the freeware versions. Just search the internet for OCR and pick one of the free software packages. Once you're finished, make sure you spellcheck...and SAVE!

sounds like Picassa 2 changed your file association
right click the file-type and select 'open with'
then find the application that you usually used to open them
select it from the list
make sure you check the box near the bottom that says "always open with" then say ok/open

hope that helps

Still i can't clearly get your question. Anyway, you can change it to open your file with another application using the followin steps:
right click your file->open with->choose a program
select the application in which your file wants to be open
mark the always open with this application checkbox
