If you do not have a problem waking up for school and are not tired during the day, talk to your parents about extending your bedtime to 9:00. Some kids need more sleep then others. If they are unwilling to compromise, wait until you are 11.
I know it seems like you will have to go to sleep early forever, but soon you will be on your own and you can make your own decisions. Until then, trust your parents.

A ten year old should be in bed by 9 pm. the latest. I would say probably 8:30 getting ready , then read a bit and lights out. If they have to get up at 7 it gives them enough sleep. They need the sleep, its a proven fact that children that go to bed later than that are slower learner and suffer more from attention deficit as children that sleep at least 10 hours.

It appears that you are asking why 10 year old kids have to sleep, and your bedtime is 8:30 each school night.

Well, look at it this way. You probably don't go to sleep right away, do you? Maybe you read a bit, or just lie awake for awhile. So you are not actually going to sleep at 8:30. Right?

If we don't get enough sleep - and "we" means adults as well as kids - we get grouchy and grumpy. We are not as alert as we should be, and we don't think as clearly. Since at ten years old you are still growing, you need plenty of rest to function well at school. Not only do you need to do well in your classes, but also, you need energy for P.E. and for art, band, or chorus - anything else besides academics during the day.

You have a busy day, during school and after. You want to have plenty of energy to do your best and enjoy your days.

You are lucky to have parents who see to it that you have a regular bedtime!

do you mean"Why do 10 year old kids have to sleep?" well if that's your question than the answer is because you need the energy for the next morning where you'll be learning 2+2=4 and all that good stuff :) and you should start getting used to the 8:30 thing because thats when you'll be going to school for the next 10 years!

Hate to tell you but the human animal needs about 10 hours of sleep every night till they are about 21. You actually need the sleep growing requires a lot of energy and you are still going to be growing/developing till you are about 19-20 years old.

it is important for young people to get the proper rest for school and their activities. If you go to school tired you cannot concentrate. Good luck dear
