I recently discovered this bump on my neck (about 2 days ago). It's right below my jaw bone, and it hurts if anything touches it. However, I have no other symptoms. It's the same color as my skin, and about an inch long, slanted diagonally. I don't think it's a cyst, because I've had those before and this doesn't feel the same. It feels sort of solid. I was wondering if anyone knew what it could possibly be? It really hurts and it's worrying me.

Well, it depends. My first thought by the location is that it is a swollen lymph node. If that is the case, it is a sign that the body is fighting an infection. Unless there is a fever, do not worry about visiting a doctor. My second thought is that it is like a calcium build up. My boyfriend has one, but I doubt that is it. My final thought is it is just a bump. A coworker of mine has one on her neck, near her shoulder. She has gotten a biopsy on it and the doctor told her not to worry about it. There really was no explanation for it. I think that you should just go to the doctor to get it checked out, especially if it is hurting you.
