There are two things that are certain in life - death and taxes.

Yes you do - if only to get your benefits and any tax refunds due.

I would file anyways because it will start your filing process for the future, if you had any taxes taken out you can probably recoup that, if you have kids then you can make extra (Addtl Child Tax and/or EIC) but even if you do not have kids you can still get money from the Earned Income Credit because you made less than $12,000. Plus in 2007 you have the Federal Excise Tax refund that returns to you at least $30 if you paid the Fed excise tax for telephone service.

If this was wages form a job subject to withholding, no you do not need to file. If income taxes were withheld, you would need to file a return to get a refund of those withholdings, however.

If it was from Self-Employment income, you MUST file a return since it is more than $400.00. Although you won't have any income tax liability, SE taxes will have to be calculated and paid when SE income exceeds $400 in any tax year.

Well it depends...did they withhold anything for State or Federal? If so you may want to file to get a refund...but no you would have no tax liability if you only made 2000....so essentially only file if you want a refund...it may not be worth it if you go to some place that charges a couple hundred of dollars tho....

Maybe. You will not actually owe income tax, but if any income taxes were withheld from your pay, you will need to file a tax return to get a refund. Check your W-2 to see whether income tax was withheld.
