i bought 2 fresh mushrooms a week ago and have kept them in the fridge i went to cook them tonight and one of them was slimy so i threw it out, the other one seemed fine but a little bit of the slime got onto the other one but i still cut it up and used them in a stir fry, Am i going to get sick? I only ate a few then decided not to eat the rest. Is this really bad? Whats the worse thats going to happen to me? Thank you!!

As a person who has eaten lots of slimy mushrooms, I think I can they'll you pretty unequivocally that you are fine and so is the mushroom. Mushrooms tend to self-digest with age which is why you should never store them in plastic or wash them (some say never) until just before using. The flavor will decline with age. A bit of slime is not going to turn a mushroom poisonous, and because you cooked it you shouldn't have to worry about disease. By the way, if you like mushrooms you should learn to identify local edible ones and gather them is season. Enthusiasts usually offer classes for free when the season is right.

Mushrooms, at least button or portabello, shouldn't be slimy. When they are fresh they're firm and the stem snaps off fairly crisply. Be attentive to how you feel whether you are nauseaous, have a headache etc. But I know that thinking you'll be sick will make it worse. Next time throw out any slimy mushrooms or bring them back to the store if that's possible.

Yes, they've gone bad, but you'll be fine if you only ate a few. You might get a stomachache, but that's about the extent of it.

It does mean that they are past their prime, but it will NOT hurt you to still eat them....both of them. No problem....I do it all the time.
