I think europeans make the best preserves I don;t know if it is the land and soil or what. American fruit looks great but is often lacking in flavor and does not stand up to cooking as in jams etc. I also find theirs contains less sugar and more of a fruit taste. Same with marmalades, the marmalades used in europe are called Seville oranges oringinally from Seville in Spain.

Have you eaten anything made by Knott's? It's the best quality for the price!!! I'll take it over any European version. When I lived on the west coast, I loved shopping at the Jam store at Knott's Berry Farm. You could get any flavor there. Now that I live in the south, it is not available to me. How sad!!!!!!

i have never have european jams but, i would think they would be better because it's probably not so commercialized as the products in the states. it's probably made at a quaint shop run by a family. not from some factory.
