Hi all,
I've been with my husband for 10 years and now we're divorcing. I'm really looking forward to meeting a man who is a better match for me and having a more fullfilling relationship.
Any ideas on how to meet eligible men at this age? I used to meet guys at clubs and online in chat rooms when I was in my early 20's, but I have no idea how to meet new guys now!
I don't work right now as I'm staying at home with my son, so I don't have the option of meeting men on the job. Someone suggested going back to work to get a new social life, but I refuse to put my son in day care, so I'm staying home until he is school aged.
Thanks!

It seems like the harder you look the harder he is to find. Just try striking up conversation with people in traditional places. Talk to neighbors, people in the grocery store. Take your son for walks, go to museums, all else fails hang out in Starbucks! Happy hunting!

You really need to reconsider maybe getting a part time job at least. How are you going to support yourself not working? Anyhow most men would be tuned off by a single mother not working, they may think that you are looking for someone to take care of you. So I would say put your son in preschool at least for a couple of days a week and get out there and get a job. You will meet men this way and it could lead to finding Mr. Right. You can also join a club or take a class in something that you are interested in. Good luck.

I'm a single man with joint custody of boy 8 and girl 5. I had an "oops" marriage that lasted just one year (Dec93-94) and a six-year one that ended in 2004. I am lonely but I just keep working and taking good care of the kids.

There's no real right answer to getting struck by lightning. You have to believe in romance before it can happen without nagging doubt.

Just go about your daily errands, like food shopping, dry cleaners, clothes shopping, etc. If you show people you are interested by giving them 'the vibe', they will pick up on it and come over and talk to you. The best relationships start by meeting people in the most unexpected place you would think of looking, like the supermarket, or a store. You need to always smile and give the look of interest. I once met a girl in a McDonalds without even trying to meet her. Try these places and let me know

Try eharmony. I know it sounds awful, but my dad and my best friend are both hooked up because of the site. And, they're insanely happy. Give it a try.

I never go out with out with "newly single women". I find that there's usually something defective about anybody who's already been "through the mill", so to speak. In other words, if you can't make the right choice the first time, then who's to say that you ever will?
