No - all the mess was behind the leaders and did not affect their race to the line.

As much as I would have liked Mark to win it, Kevin simply out-maneuvered him.

If Mark thought "Hey, yellow flag, that means I win" and didn't keep driving flat-out until he KNEW that the race was over, that's his own fault.

And Montoya wasn't on fire - the 07 was Clint Bowyer.

Should the yellow flag have been thrown? Absolutely! There was a field of cars traveling around 200 MPH and the cars from the 3rd position on back were wrecking. This put most of the field in danger by trying to "race back to the line" (hence the reason NASCAR freezes the field at the yellow).
At 200 MPH, I'm sure there would be no difference if the flag was thrown or not. Lucky no one was hurt racing to the finish line running through the green flag part of the wreak! If a car was going to crash, they were going to crash regardless if the yellow was put out or not. However, this is just another example of NASCAR not consistantly applying their own rules.NASCAR is so dang inconsistent, it's upsetting.

Daytona is Daytona, throwing the yellow wouldn't of made any difference but then again if you are a fan of Mark Martin and after this being his 26th or 27th year in Cup and wanted him to win the 500 then they should have but if you are a fan of Harvick you're glad they didnt. I don't think that that they should have as the wreck was happening behind them and wouldn't have affected the way the race finished, and if they had thrown the caution Harvick still might have won, because it was jsut that close, two hundreths of a second is way close, and I think that it was funny how when Harvick was doing doughnuts in the infield that he killed his transmittion and they had to push it or toe it back to Victory Lane. It was an awesome race though.

They need to be consistent with what they do, any other time the caution would have flew the instant the cars started wrecking, so now do we go back to racing to the stripe on all wrecks like they use to do, I am really getting sick of the way nascar runs the circuit, different rules and penalties for different teams and races, its a bunch of BS.

I'm a Harvick fan but I think nascar got this one wrong, at the start of the wreck Martin was in the lead.

Yes, they should have thrown the caution but when is Nascar consistent in what they do. Depsite what Petasucks says, at the end of the race they will go to video as well as scoring loops, loops less. It would have mattered when the caution flew not the scoring loop. I could care less if Harvick or Martin won but the consistent answer would have been to throw the caution and figure it out from the video.

Absolutely...they would have at any other place during the race; and the announcers had just talked about the yellow flag. NASCAR messed up big time on this one.

I know its rules but they change them at their own will all the time and I just think it woulda been a waste of time to try to clean the track up after that wreck to run one more lap kevin got it fair and square.

Yes, just because in any other race, they would have. Especially with a car finishing on its roof!
