Stupid Brit...if you're talking about an incident in the US. Yes please try to slap a cop for giving you a ticket..that is a free ride to an azz kicking. If you don't have a license in the US then you'll get your privileges revoked, meaning even if you wanted to get a license you would not be allowed for so many years.
Get off your pom-pus attitude and go back across the big pond.

In the UK, not only would you get the points you would originally have got on your license, but you'd also be arrested for assaulting a Police Officer. You may also get sprayed with pepper spray, or taser'd, and probably eat the pavement in the process. We wouldn't forcably take your licence from you - you could say you didn't have it with you, but if you don't hand it in within the 7 days given on the HORT/1 form, they'll do you for not having a license too, unless you can prove you have one in court. If you can prove you have one it court, then they will take it from you to have your points added. Resistance, as they say, is futile.

I suspect you will still get the ticket and will have a bonus charge of assaulting a peace officer tacked on for good measure!

Last time I was in Brighton I watched a Brit do just that. My oh my, but he hit the ground hard! I applauded the officer and told him he'd be welcome on my police force in New York any time he thinks to emigrate!

probably not a good idea to slap a cop...
no matter what country you call home.

unless, ofcourse, you have oodles of
money (and possibly time) to burn on
stuff like court and lawyer fees... not to
mention additional fines.

That would be a good idea. Then they could take your liberty instead....but you could keep your license. Brilliant.
