you need to buy 2 things one is a cat claw scissor (not the guillotine )
type (its a little more money but worth it ).
you also need quick stop or septic powder.
when you hold the cat press the pad of the foot till the nails stick out , you only want to clip the tips . IF the nails are clear you can see the vein in there, clip before this .
SO JUST THE TIP of the nail
IN CASE there is a little bleeding do not panic just dip the nail into the powder , and your done ,
If its a kitten you want it to get used to you doing this now.
You can have your vet or grommer do it , but learning your self is a good idea and you will save money in the long run.

well you can use your regual finger nail clippers or buy some for cats that you can find in a pet store. when you clip then have the cat in your lap and make sure its calm and not hyper and in play mood.push at the top of your cats pals gently to make the claws come out. Make sure you have good light so you can see where the claw is pink. if you clip it that far it will hurt the cat, make ure you only clip the clear white part of the claw.

Buy a scratching post to help the cat trim it's own.
They need sharp claws though to climb and as defensive weapons. This is why the American thing of declawing(which is illegal in the UK) is so cruel.

It is really not a good idea. Cats claws are very sensitive and will bleed if you don't know what you are doing. This will cause pain and possibly infections too. Try a scratching post. If you are intent on trimming talk to a vet. They may be able to advise you on how to do it or do it for you.
Please don't declaw cats it is cruel.

Use an old pair of nail clippers that you don't use anymore, as you dont know where they have been. I have always clipped all of my cats and dogs claws, as long as you dont go to far and cut the quik ( pink nerve in their claws) you will be fine!! but if you are worried then ask your vet!

thats not too hard to do.....they make a special cat nail trimmer that you can buy at wal-mart. cut the nails back just past the points. i have to say though, they usually dont like this so make sure you have a good grip on your cat first. and remember, they have five claws on each foot. the first four are easy to see but the "thumb" claw is kinda tricky. and usually sharper than the rest. just be quick about it.

very simple (providing ur cats well behaved while doing this)
Pair of nail clippers prefribly pets (u can get from any pet store)but humans will do.
Dunno really how to explain this without actually showing u but here it goes...
Stick ur cat on ur lap, with ur body and arms hold ur cat close, with one hand gentally push ur cats claws out by pushing his/hers ´fingers´ forward. and with the other hand trim away! Just becareful not to clip to much off they can bleed and it will hurt ur cat. just take the points off.
If ur cats a riggler there are ways like raping him up in a towel.. my fav for one of my moggies is to wait till she is asleep - works a treat for me!!
Failing that a quick trip to the vet or groom will do the job for u!
Good Luck!!
Hope that made sence?!

I always used nail clippers, but they actually make special clippers for cat claws. You can find them in the pet section of most discount stores.

If it's an indoor cat and the problem is that it's scratching you, shredding furniture, etc. there's some little rubber caps they sell for pets' claws (if you don't trim them)
