How do I go about editing videos taken with a camera?

I need to cut out parts; is there any way to do this? I've uploaded the video to my PC and I need to know if there's some sort of program or something I can do that will allow me to edit parts out of the video? Any help is appreciated.

I would suggest something like Adobe Premiere.

You can get Elements (for photos) and Premiere as a bundle pretty cheap, and they are well worth it.
