He's technically about 14.5 months since he was born on 11/30/05. When people ask how old your toddler is, is it "politically correct" to just say 14 months--or how many of you say the "1/2" months?
Also, since there are many months that don't have a "30th", when will he technically turn the next month older? (like in February)

It doesn't really matter. Just say 14 months, or 14 1/2 months. You can say he'll be 15 months on the __th of March.

It really doesn't matter.

Those who do care about how many months he is are other parents who are compairing their 14 month old to your 14 month old. As you know at this stage in life 15 months is differnt than 14 months, because they change alot in a month.

But these people that care exactly how old he is, don't care how you say it, they care how their child compairs to yours, or they are relatives and they should already know how old he is.

But how you say it really doesn't matter at all.

Okay. You're a new mommy :-) I mean that in the best of ways. With your first, yes, you are concerned about the technicalities of ages, months, days, etc. but by number two you won't be. There is no real answer- if he's close to 14 1/2 months, then that's your answer....past the 1/2 month point, I would suggest "he's just about 15 months" because honestly, it really only matters to you. No one will judge you if you're off a few days- or even a week or two. It's what you decide your comfortable with! I was concerned about this too and I am now pregnant with my second. I can barely remember what day it is!! But for the record, if it's important to you to be exact, then that's your prerogative. Go with your gut :-)

February is the only month without a 30th. Every other month does, but not every one has a 31st. This is actually an interesting question. Im pretty sure when the first hits he will just be 15mths then I guess. I mean kids are born on the 31st all the time, and the months that don't have a 31st they still say that they are the next age up in months. So, I guess that's ur answer.

I don't think anyone expects you to be that exact. If he is between 14 months and 15 months, just say he is 14 months. If he is almost 15 months, you can say..almost 15 months. When a baby is weeks old, we say their age by weeks, when they get a little older, we say their age by months. I have never known anyone to say it by half months. Then, when they are older yet, we say it by years. 5 1/2 years is fine but saying 5 years and 4 1/2 months would be a little odd I think. If he was born on Nov. 30th, and say Feb doesn't have 30 days, I would say he was the next month older at the beginning of the next month. Again, it doesn't have to be exact, and if someone wants to know what day he was born on, they will ask.

ummm... okay! with our kids if they were 14 1/2 months i said 14 1/2 months. why? because babies change so fast. one week they cannot crawl and the next they are everywhere.

as far as how old he is. if he was born on the 30th then he is a month older on the 30th of each month. with february, i would say on the 28th or 29th they are a month older.

I never said "X months old" unless it was to a medical person or about a medical concern. I just say my kids are one, two and four. Most people don't care about the weeks and months, really. They just want to know approximately how old they are. Sometimes people will ask when their birthdays are, but that's because all of mine are TALL and I'm a shorty.

As far as being politically correct, baby age isn't a situation where that applies.

I would just say "14" months... then when its the end of the next month I would say "15" months. No need to be exact. When he hits 2 thats when I always started going "2", "2 1/2", "3".....
People don't need to know exact ages.

Most people drop the "1/2 month" distinction at 1 year of age, and the "months" distinction once the child turns the age of 2. If its a stranger, they don't really care how exact you are, they're just looking for a quick answer.

Well, I have decided the best thing with my daughter is not add the half a month.
She was born on 27th April, so up until this week, I have said that she is 21 months, but this week, I say 22 months next week.

people do not get into so much detail ,it is just born a few months,
under a year .
or a toddler (2 years )
who cares about the half months,
and the time is moving all the time
politics comes much later
when they are grown up
