Do you feel you can be fair to your child, yourself and your job? Then yes. As long as you keep in mind that you have one chance at a good relationship with your child. The same goes with yourself and your job. It is all part of life. There is a very big difference between guiding children to the proper end result than holding any one of then to a different set of standards, personal or otherwise. I have seen where teachers have actually been harder on their own children, holding them to a different set of rules, mostly from a personal point of view. I know it is it is fun to teach them to ride a bike, and hard to watch them fall. But time, distance and self-discovery of confidence will lead the child to that balance he or she is seeking and what you want for them. The best you can do to help them find that balance is be fair and you will be surprised.

The same goes for any parent working at a school, who are not teaching.

I do, and both my child and I love it! Both of my daughters have attended the preschool where I work, and I loved knowing that they were close to me. I also love that I really know the people who are caring for my child... I trust them impeccably since I know the practices and theories that they are using to work with children (since I am part of it too!) It gives me a great feeling of relief knowing that they are being cared for by my competent co-workers. I always insist however, that my child be in a different room than I work in. That way, they don't get the chance to hang all over you and act jealous over the attention you will inevitably give another child who I will hold or talk to. But, I can look right around the corner and see my little girl chatting up a storm in the classroom right next to me!

there is no problem with working at the school your child attends i have for both my daughters as long as you do several things you do not handle your child's behavior problems first if you are to hard on them people will notice and if your not as hard as they think you should be then they will notice so if another person handles it then you are told or asked to step in then you deal with it. also you are not there to police your child's every move school is where children spread their wings and practice what we have taught them at home so you do not want them to not have a chance to do this but that does not mean you do not keep a eye on them but other then that its a good way to make money but still be on when they are and off when they are!

Alot of kids can be embarassed if their parents worked where they went to school. But you could have the advantage of a hardworking kid because he/she knows you can check up on him/her at anytime. This is only a decision you can make, but personally, I wouldn't.

My mom ran the supply cart at my elementary when I was a kid. Ive had teachers who's kids were in my school at the same time as their mom's, and dads.

I dont think there's anything wrong with it at all.
