It is my opinion that Windows live onecare is about the best protection for your system.Afterall who knows windows better than microsoft?!Check it out at the microsoft site.

Like Kokopelli said, AVAST is good for the price, free.

They like BitDefender or Kaspersky as the 'best' for Vista.
