They always act stupid....why can't they just act like nice guys....getting a date is more easier that way, right?

You shouldnt generalise. Not ALL guys act like "retards" when they are around girls...
Maybe it's the guys you are hanging out with...sounds like you need to get a better crowd to be with.
But to answer your question anyway, think about this...
Back in caveman times men were hunters and women got clubbed over the head and dragged back to the cave. Now cavewomen back then were pretty smart right, they wouldnt just let any nerdy caveman club her over the head to take her back to his cave just to play a game of chess right? So shen wouldnt hang around the cavenerds and only hang around the cavejocks right?
Well even when she's with the cave jocks she not going to let the little ones whack her across the head with his club she wants the biggest and strongers right? And who's going to be the biggest strongest cavejock for her be dragged back to their cave? Of course the one who acts the biggest and strongest. The ones who act nice and would give you little cave flowers and chocolates are at the back while the bigger ones are out the front acting up and beating their chests trying to impress you...
Now bring it forward again to today and imagine these guys are doing the same thing, they are just beating their chests and acting up THINKING they are trying to impress you, but really most people have evolved since then...and they just need to grow up.

No, nice guys don't get dates very well. And if they do, the girls just walk all over them. But some guys take it to the other extreme, and that's where the retard thing comes in. Some of us guys have found a balance though, and those are the ones you want to go after.

Boys' brains don't develop as fast as girls' brains do. So even if you are the same age, chances are the boys are emotionally more immature than you are. One reason they are acting retarded is that they really aren't sure of themselves or how to act. This awkwardness will go away as they get older-at least it usually does.

They are probably trying to impress you. Take it as a compliment. Though since they are trying to impress you, you have the power to get them to stop because they will care what you say.

Unfortunately, guys do think that impresses us. They're just trying to compete with their friends for the girls' attention so they do anything and everything to get noticed.

i guess its for the same reason girls do that in front of guys, so they get noticed.... its really stupid, but ppl believe that this will work and get them their dream guy/girl.
