Ruger's Red Label is a great firearm for your investment, not like those others that can easily cost 2 or 3 times as much. One way to look at it is you take that $2500 O/U (new) on the used market...$1800 and someone offers $1500 you've lost $1000. The used market is much slimmer on the hi-end firearms. Now take that $1000 Red Label on the used market and ask $750 and get an offer for $600 and that's $400 off the tag.
I only have 1 Red Label in my collection and when it comes out of the safe, my son and I really enjoy it.

alrite fellow gun owner! ur bro needs the 10/22, it is one of the best and probably the most famous 22 lr. ever made. you can upgrade it anyway u want to also, plus it's easier to find parts for and resale value is great! the mossberg however will start to show problems fairly soon if u use it quite often and resale on those things suck. i own a 10/22 and i love it, in my opinion though the best 22 ever made was the remington nylon 66 but good luck finding one under 400. for ur shotgun, look for a used remington 870, the 870 is the most reliable pump for the money. and u can change from a home defense to a field gun in just a few minutes, the new england pardner is a decent pump, but the 870 wins hands down. and like i said before stay away from mossberg. especially the maverick, if u end up with a mossberg, u want a 500. just do some research and shop around to find what really is best for u.

All day every day.
I enjoy taking mine out to play.
Next time you go to the gun shop, pick up the Red Label and close your eyes and run your hand over its lines.
The first thing you will notice is you cant feel where the wood meets the steel.
Even with your eyes closed you can feel the Quality in that Red.
Yes they are high and it took me a while to talk my self in to spending that much, but I have never regretted it, not once.
I was born on a ranch and had to earn my money the hard way for years settled for less.
Now I feel I deserved the option to splurge once and a while.
Yes it’s worth every penny.

They are a fine shotgun, and (in my opinion) worth the money, but when you talk about spending that much, it becomes a question of how it feels to you. Picking up a gun off of the rack at the store, it has a fit and feel thats different to each shooter, based on shooter's size, and their form. Last summer, I went with a buddy of mine to pick up a Red Label. He'd wanted one forever, (not ever really handling or shooting one, he just WANTED it for his collection). We're both taller guys, and no matter how many times we each pulled it up, it wasn't quite right. He ended up leaving with a Cynergy, and it pulls up perfectly every time for both of us. The Red Labels are worth it, but it's all in the shooters preference. Sometimes, you just want what you want.

I always said it's the shooter
If you can't hit with a cheap gun you not going to hit any better with a 1500.00 gun
It's more fun to make that guy with his high dollar gun look bad and you can almost always get a good bet out him to take his money.
So if you have to dress to empress get a Win. LOOK HERE

From the few I've encountered they appear to be a rugged, well built gun, but for the money you could get a beretta shotgun and be MUCH happier.

They are a solid and reliable shotgun. Not as nice as the Browning O/U, but a good value for the money.
