I've got this modern looking 9ft. couch. My fiancee and I joke that it has "death buttons" because we easily get snagged on the buttons. One came loose and I'm not sure how to resew it since the button has the stich hidden under the fabric. Any ideas?
Thanks so much in advance for your answers!

I forgot to mention that the buttons extend the entire length of the couch and there's at least 36 of them on the base cushion! All great ideas though, thanks so much!

Oh, I know that one, my puppies decided to pull all the buttons off the new couch. The upholsterer told me to remove the back material of the couch and retie all of the buttons-because if one is loose the rest will follow. So ..remove the back from the bottom up,you don't need to remove the entire back leave the top edge alone, then it will be easier to tack back down once you're done.Take the button from the front and place the shank through the small hole where it was. Use a sturdy piece of twine in a large needle and sew through the shank--make a loop and then pull tight and knot it three of four times. While the back is off make sure all the buttons are tight-you might want to tie each one to make sure it doesn't happen again. Time to reattach the back- an electric staple gun works great-pull the back nice and tight and start stapling. Sounds like a pain-it is and it's a two person job. Good luck.

Button Back Couch

I agree that the best bet may be to remove the buttons -- maybe even the whole darn couch -- get something comfy and snag free!

But, you can buy a big pack o' needles, and they'll have a curved upholstery needle. It's not an easy job, but you should be able to sew the button on in under five minutes. Be sure to use heavy-duty thread.

One way to avoid snags in the future is to slip cover the couch, or throw an afghan or something over the back -- may ruin the lines, though. Hope that helps.

Just take off the rest of the buttons. They'll fall off eventually and you'll always be racking your brain how to get them back on. And you won't be getting snagged anymore either.
