When I take my kids to the park, there are cigarette butts all over the playground in the bark. I also see parents pushing their kids on the swings while they're smoking. I am so disgusted. Shouldn't there be a law against smoking on the playgound?

I think so. Kids shouldn't be breathing that stuff in in the first place... It stinks having to worry about your kids breathing that in when you just want to bring them out to play. There should be a law.. even the risk of a fire is possible.. it is disgusting; what if a child were to put a cigarette but in his/her mouth? yuckk. =P

I agree, when I see that it makes me sick. It angers me to be forced to inhale other people's nasty toxins in the first place, whether I'm just walking down the street or coming out of a store or whatever. But children especially need to be protected. I think it's ridiculous that the law forbids littering cigarette butts but not the smoking itself. The smokers could get in more trouble for littering the butts on the ground than they would get in for smoking in their childrens' faces all day long. Selfish, sick people - and messed up laws!

There is a law against smoking in the playgrounds in my city. Maybe you could call city hall and ask about how to have a law passed.

You are positivley correct!! How parents expect to teach their kids not to smoke when are doing it right in front of them?! It's okay for parents to smoke sometimes, but not infront of a child's friends or in a public place where children are exposed to it. Hideous! Right a letter to your mayor or get together a petition to voice your opinions and dont't back down. The people in history who acheived the best results are the people who endured much difficutly. But I feel many people in your community should support you. So take a chance you could make a dramatic difference! Best of luck and power to you sista! xx

I think there is. I am a smoker with a child, but everyone says I'm not like most smokers. I don't smoke near my child, and if I am in a group on nonsmokers, I hold my urge. I do consider this my right to smoke, but I try to keep in mind the people I'm around. I think that people do make to much of smoking most times, but in this situation, when a child cannot remove himself or herself from the smoke, then its not right.

there should be a no smoking sign in that playground -- it's wrong to smoke in front of children -- and little ones might pick up cigarette butts --

It would be nice.

I think there should be a law against smoking in your car with children. Its against all sorts of civil liberties, but I HATE seeing kids stuck in a tin can full of cancerous smoke. Thats just cruel.
