I believe it comes, not from a bible verse, but from the Nicene Creed which is a statement of faith. "and he shall come again with glory to judge both the the quick and the dead ..."

Here are the complete verses- the word 'quick' refers to those that are alive, living


Act 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
