lately she has had a problem excreting, like she's constipated. Could that be the problem, or could it be a sign of her bodily functions failing as a result of old age? Please, any help, or advice, would be greatly appreciated!!

11 is not that old. I think she might have eaten something she shouldn't have - or you might need to upgrade her food to a senior product that is easier to digest.

If that does not work, take her into the vet - she could have a health problem (but I seriously doubt it is related to old age - my cats usually live to be 15-20 years old).

Does she manage finally, or is she blocked? If she is blocked, she needs medicaal attention. If she just has constipation, try giving her some milk or some parafin oil (they sell it at pharmacies for humans with constipation, a tea spoon will do). It is not a bad idea, especially at this age, to give her a medical check up anyway (blood tests, or whatever the vet thinks appropriate). she may also need a feces test, to check for blood or parasites. Finally, does she urinate properly? They often look like they're constipated, when they try to pee but can't because of crystals or UTI.

Try a hairball remedy like laxatone or any similar products. They work like a lubricant that passes hairballs, etc. through the cat's system, and also softens bowels movements. Too much can cause diarrhea, but that may not be such a terrible thing at first to get her cleaned out. These products can be purchased at any pet stores like PetCo and Petsmart, even Wal-Mart, or your vet.
