loads of lip balm - try vaseline, esp at night slather it on. elizabeth arden's eight hour cream is great as well. also, if you're in the UK get Boots glycerine and rosewater - amazing for dry skin and lips. really works.
good luck

I would recommend that you put that lip balm on 24/7! And do not lip your lips despite how dry they might be. You may even try lotions, or even just water. A good method is to hold an ice cube to your lip (but wet it first) that usually helps the pain and heals it faster. But your not alone here- I am Queen of the Ugly Lippers. :)

Depends on the cause - if it is in the corners of the mouth, this is called angular cheilitis and is usually a yeast/fungal infection. If this is the case, then apply an antifungal cream such as Monistat or Lotrimin (use the ones made for vaginal yeast infections - they are gentler than the ones for athlete's foot) three times a day. If it is the body of the lip itself, settle the inflammation down with hydrocortisone cream - let it soak in, then cover with Vaseline. If you have yellow crusting, or if there are tiny blisters, then you have an infection issue. Check with your doctor to see if you have either impetigo (a staph infection) or herpes simplex. Vitamin deficiency is possible, but not common in the US. Good luck!

Use vaseline aka petroleum jelly. Leave the lip balms alone as those may be part of the problem. Stick with vaseline.

You may have a vitamin deficiency...try omega-3 fish oil capsules ($3 for 100 caps), Zinc (even less expensive), vitamin C (scurvy is caused by a lack of vitamin C), and riboflavin (vitamin B2).

the only thing that works and fast is aveeno-menthol lip-the one in the blue tube.. i had chapped lips that were so cracked and tried every product. from Vaseline intensive care to carmex to bees wax and the aveeno worked after only applying it 1 whole day every time i remembered and when i went to bed i also put it on.
