I don't know. Could be she is delighted to have had some time with her Lord God. I know I frequently clap, because of Joy unspeakable. So there ya go.
I don't think there is any sort of tradition associated with it so likely it is a personal thing.

i am muslim and when i am deeply praying to God i claps, i claps because of how much i know it's coming. the day of judgement isn't a joke. it's like u know there is a Tusnami is coming after an hour and u r just hoping that it will go easy.

She's all excited about having spoken to God? lol I don't know, never heard of that.
My 3 year-old does that when she prays, but it's because she wants everyone to clap for her lovely prayer.

Probably the same reason my daughter *kisses* her hand and touches her jeep when she makes it through a changing light and doesn't get a ticket.

That is something only your friend could answer and since she doesn't want to share that with you or feels you wouldn't understand then so be it. She has her own personal reasons and those reasons are good for her.
