i would really like to know why some men are scared of commitment? what are the real reasons?
i was with a guy for 6 months then he felt he was getting too attatched and couldnt handle it! i would never have hurt him - such a waste!

Hmmm, there will be many answers to this and most of them will portray men in a bad way. So I will just speak as a man and let you kow what I think on the situation.
Firstly, not all of us are scared of commitment: some of us seek the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with and just have not found her yet.
Secondly, a lot of men seem to be scared of the commitment because we get easily bored having risen to the challenge of winning a girl over in the first place. I dont know why a lot of men run away from showing someone commitment but that is a way of life I am afraid.
I would love to be able to settle down with the girl i love but it was HER who was afraid of committing and it was HER that walked away.
I know this doesnt really help and I really hope you find that certain someone who will offer you the commitment you seek

Not all guys are frightened of commitment. However, there may be a primitive process taking place in addition to other issues.
Guys are biologically promiscuous, and can enjoy sexual activity outside a relationship. Its part of evolution i.e. males being the initiators.
Most (not all) females can only enjoy sexual activity within the boundaries of a relationship. Hence females are the gatekeeper to sex in a heterosexual relationship.
This is why homosexual men are less likely to remain in a long term relationship - two things are removed: 1. Women 2. Society's pressure for the couple to be monogamous.
It probably doesn't answer your question but it explains a naturally occuring process in males.

Let me keep this short and directly to the point. Men don't like commitment, because men don't trust women. Commitment to most men mean that the life they live now and enjoy will be over.
All of a sudden, everything we do or say will be criticized, while being single, nobody cares.

I'm not scared of commitment, I would love to have my life sorted out and focus on being with someone instead of worring about all the other guys at her work getting in the way.

We see and hear so much on TV and in the papers about women taking a man for all he has ,that for a lot of men it just is not worth getting involved with a woman. They say they want equality, but they mean they want superiority. The perception is that a woman thinks what is mine is mine, what is his is mine too.

Makes me wonder if he really loved you. I (a man) would never leave someone I loved no matter what the risks...maybe that was an easy excuse to get out.
On the other hand you could look into it more deeply, maybe something in the past is haunting him and preventing him to commitment. have a look at his past relationships...were they similar?

well the only reason and main reason a guy is scared at coommitment is because he's not mature enough to have one. and also once they have thought of what a commitment is going to control their lives they will run.

I reckon it's a case of diff horses for diff courses.some will commit some won't.i don't think you can paint us all with the same brush really.i've been with my adorable gf for 15 months now.her job keeps us apart for weeks on end & i still love her as much as i did then as now.i'm not scared to commit to her, if she wanted me to. she's the soulmate i've waited years to find, so i'm not going anywhere!end of the day, it depends on the guy & of course the girl herself.

Guys are scared of commitment because we don't want to miss out on all the other lovely ladies out there.
If we stay with one woman,, we cant have any of the others,, we don't want to miss out on something better..
