Karma is not of the One True God. Hindu and Buddhist speak of Karma, but when you have the Holy Spirit to help you pray to the Father in Jesus' name your prayers will be heard and answered.

Good karma!!........ You must be a true Child of God (a true Christian) and are obedient to all 10 of God's Commandments consistently to show Him that you love Him and are faithful to Him. Your prayer must be only for the things you need and are within the will of God. You should always pray to your "Father" and humble yourself before Him. Your prayer always should be ended ..."in the name of Jesus" Amen (as your intercessor to the Father)........This is the only way the Father will answer prayer.....God does not condone Lawlessness of His Commandments and will not answer prayer if you break His Laws! God does answer prayer of the unsaved. Only in certain circumstances; the unsaved who pray for salvation, or a traumatic experience etc., when God chooses to do so......So don't be fooled into thinking that your prayers are answered just because things happened for you in a positive way. That is not necessarily evidence of answered prayer.

Just believe that everytime you pray God hears but do not hear the prayers of sinners. Yet others pray for you and God hears them sometimes for you. Now it also can depend on your faith, meaning believe what you prayed and you shall have the petition that you prayed for. No one can be good enough to hear from God because it is by his grace that is sufficent unto us.

i know you may not believe in Islam, but read what Islam says about this anyway:
every prayer of a true believer is answered, so it either God gives him what he wants in this life or save it for him in the day of judgment. and in the day of judgment the believer will wish that God saved every prayer he said.
when a disbeliever pray to God, God tell Gabriel to give him what he wants, as he doesn't like to hear his prayer. But when a true believer pray, God tells Angel Gabriel to hold into his request, because God likes to hear what is he saying.

First off salvation only comes from Jesus Christ alone ( John 14:6) so being a good person will not get you anywhere, of course its good to do good things, but as far as heaven and God, that is not what gets you to Him. Ephesians 2:8 says "It is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and its not of yourselves, it is the gift of God"
--We have all sinned against God, (Romans 3:23) and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) which is the second death, which separates you from God for all eternity ( see 2 Thessalonians 1) And it is only through Jesus Christ that we can be forgiven, when we believe in what He did on the cross--Romans 5:8-9
That He died and rose again, so we who believe would be set free from the bondage of sin and hell, and given eternal life with Him. Not only that but He does change our hearts, and bends His ear to those who love Him--He hears the prayers of those who truly seek and love Him. He knows who are "His sheep" and He also answers in His timing...and according to His will, which is ALWAYS for the best.
Proverbs 15:29
The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
-Lamentations 3:25 says "The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him"

Prayer doesn't do anything:
http://www.boingboing.net/2006/03/30/prayer_wont_heal_ya.html
(well, except for letting you focus and relax - it's just meditating combined with delusion)
You are doing something wrong with your life - wasting it on nonsense.
Read The God Delusion, understand what makes religion work, and be forever free of it. Email me if you don't have a copy handy.

Just do what you're doing, remember there's millions and millions of people on Earth. Not all of them pray directly to God but they do ask for help. So I'm sure they are answered too.
