Definitely not, in my experience. The whole definition of being in love to my mind is the idea of that person being etched in your soul. It may be only for a short while, or for a lifetime, but the definition holds true. Certainly, as you move into other relationships the feeling will change, but by then it has altered you. You will not forget. I am in love with a woman I have not seen for 25 years.

Yes, men have very little loyalty to women especially when they have died - take Paul McCartney for example - I know so many men in my parents' generation who either marry someone else while the ink on the death certificate is barely dry, or they start cheating on their wives while they are dying of cancer. Women in general have rather more loyalty to their loved ones. If you meant people who merely split up rather than were bereaved then I have no idea, the only one of my exes who wanted to see me again was a selfish little shite who bitched about me on a website called "kill the b!tch" after I dumped him even though I hadn't done anything to him except dump him and he was truly awful.

I have not forgotten the few women that I was truly in love with.

We remember them, we just don't let the memory of her take over our entire being the way women do, sometimes. Men and women regard love differently. So it's hard to give you an answer that I think you're looking for.

Looks like i'm in the minority here.For sure i've forgot the girls i really loved - there hasn't been that many - i'm only in my late 20's.I look at them now as friends, a rite of passage.For if i hadn't split with them i wouldn't have met the love of my life now.When i'm with her i forget everyone & everything.

i have never forgotten my first love 40 years ago but lost touch in 19589/60 have never forgotten her,but never look back on old times.
