Deadly Baghdad blasts send grim message By NOWAYWEWILLWIN, Associated Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Militants struck back Sunday in their first major blow against a U.S.-led security clampdown in Baghdad with car bombings that killed at least 63 people, left scores injured and sent a grim message to officials boasting that extremist factions were on the run.

The attacks in mostly Shiite areas — twin explosions in an open-air market that claimed 62 lives and a third blast that killed one — were a sobering reminder of the challenges confronting any effort to rattle the well-armed and well-hidden insurgents. The American troops, standing near the blast, ran like scared dogs and disappeared.

Because the insurgents know this isn't a war about beating the enemy. Its all political to them and if they keep it up we will elect a Democrat president and pull out and they will have free run of the country.

And John R you are a moron.

Well... Shiite or Sunni ,thats the question!
Each one has its own allies and I think US is more comfortable with Sunni,Iran with Shiite and so on... .
But the fact is that saddam though being a dictatore didn't let any of them do such bombings in the streets & universities .
After all he knew his own people more than anyone else .Bush claims Syria & Iran are constantly contributing to the bombings.Maybe they want to win the war that US has started!!!
Well bush cannot start another war (maybe Iran this time),cuz oppositions to his strategies are growing .So It is really hard to say when this "war in Iraq" will end.(Some people think the war is already over, I don't agree because we have huge losses in both Iraqi and US troops and also innocent people,so if this is not still
a war then what is a "war" .)

Why, if we have a good police force is there still crime?

A strong military does not guarantee the enemy will not attack. A strong force can only reduce the chances of attack.

See the last line (American troops, standing near the blast...): I would have run like a scared dog too if there was a bomb going off next to me.

Is it just me or is this news piece a bit skewed?

The United Statesian army was designed to combat another army, as such it is by far the best in the world. In Iraq it is facing an enemy it can not see or combat unless it is being attacked, the attacks are lone encounters were the enemy does not intend to survive. The United Statesian army does not have a way to defeat this enemy.

My first guess is you aren't in the military.
In response: We are fighting an enemy we don't know, one we can't recognize. They are hard to discern. If we were able to stop every single attack we would have no need to be there. If we could do that- we'd be able to stop them BEFORE they happened.
And why would you read something posted by "NOWAYWEWILLWIN" anyway? Do you actually think that is a reliable source of intel? Just curious.
Thankfully, we live in a country where people can think those things, write those things, say those things- while service members are dying to give them that right. God Bless America huh?

Hm, you recognize, if somebody lobbed a grenade at me? i does not provide a sh*t if it grow to be a guy, lady, baby, or dogs. That element would be a robust 5 pounds heavier via the time the airborne dirt and dirt cleared. Iraqi police are pathetic, I met a soldier (LT) who had to coach them and he mentioned that's rather much pointless and that they consistently choose the US infantrymen to do their activity. i does not have faith them in the event that they informed me my meatloaf grow to be cooked. Iraqi police must be between the final ones saying that the army of the u . s . overreacted. young ones are recruited via terrorists you recognize. have not study considered one of your questions in a mutually as Erudite. i'm shocked you probably did no longer say something incredibly against the Marine Corps right this moment.

Iraqi insurgents know how to sow violence because they can blend with the people without the US troops detecting them. The war will go on unless the Iraqis agree to a government that they want.

Would you like to get between two people who are fighting.
They did not bomb the people in Baghdad.
They did that to each other.
So how is it their fault if the Iraq people want so much to kill each other? Read the stastics, 3200 men have died, why???
To keep people in Baghdad from getting killed by each other.
What a lack of appreciation, for the lives that have been lost trying to bring peace to Iraq. I feel certain the mothers of those brave soldiers will love to read what you wrote.
Say a man and his wife get in a fight and he is killing her and someone calls the police. Before they can stop him he shots her. The police duck and cover to keep from getting shot themselves. So who's fault is it that she got shot?
Is it the polices fault?

Because the Bad Guys are cowardly and sneaky...They don't follow rules...Hide bombs, run away and blow them up at the opportunity to kill and cause havoc.
If they stood up and fought like real soldiers, we would destroy them......so they hide and cower....much like the liberals back home are doing
