I'm 13 and sometimes i get pains in my chest/neck which feel like a hole in my heart. Also occasionally pains in my left arm? My friend also gets the chest/neck pain and we both swim competitevly. What could this be?

If you're swimming competitively....it's probably just muscular* You do use alot of upper strength and speed so y ou're pushing your body to the maximum.
If it continues to worsen, see your doctor...but it's more than likely your muscles from pushing yourself so hard. GOODLUCK*

Hi Kitty. There are certain things happening very quickly in this part of the story, ah? I'm thinking your unfortunate character would not take notice of these things considering what is about to happen to him. If you were driving an automobile, say 100kms/hour and someone swerved into your lane...those last few seconds may see you desperately trying to avoid the collision and it's unlikely that you would notice that you'd snapped your nails off your fingers trying to turn the steering wheel a billion times in a second. (Ow...maybe you would) But I don't think Laian would be tearing at the rock face until his fingers bled, that usually happens to someone who has time to do such a thing. The young man is falling, ah? to his sad destiny. Maybe you could add the snapping of ribs in the sentence after the leg break and say that pain racked throughout his entire body? Doesn't seem right to place the breaking of ribs after he tastes the salt of tears from his eyes. It's kinda like saying 'oh! and this also happened'. I disagree that the 'deceitful handhold crumbling away' should be taken out. It's exactly what I'd think had I been in that man's position, and it felt good to read it. And, forgive me if I sound like a sicko, but I like your character "Phoebe". :) Feline, unforgiving, final. Sounds dangerous to me! Nice character.

It could be a sign of a heart attack. See a Dr. for a check up.

If you are cleared from heart problems it could be a muscle issue. In that case, see a professional massage therapist, preferrably one trained in Neuromuscular Therapy.

Exercise with out proper stretching can cause pain.

I have been a basketball player, swimmer and cyclist all my life, recently (in 2000) I started running and am now a marathon finisher.

I am also a neuromuscular massage therapist.

Take care.
