We have a young infant, so we frequently use their service instead of sitting down to a meal. We're not really being "waited on," so do we tip? If so, is it the same tip that we'd give a sit-down waiter inside?

My inclination is to give $1 or so for bringing it out to the car, but I wouldn't tip the full amount (well, I did once when it was snowing and the wind chill was miserable, but that's different).

Thanks!

I always tip on to go orders, because that peson had to take the time to get your order together and make sure everything is there. I don't tip the full 15-20% though, I usually tip $1 for every entree ordered. I also tip more to the pizza guy if it's raining or snowing.

Yes, you should tip this person at least 15%. After all, they are hand delivering your food to your car. It's a potentially big risk job, having to approach a strangers car and hand them food. Who knows what can happen? These people do not choice to work this position, they are often told by management they have to. No matter what the weather(rain, snow, bitter windchill, etc), these people will bring the food out to your car.

In addition, the car side people personally takes your order over the phone, enters it into the computer. Then when it is finished, they pack your whole order, make sure everything is right, give you silverware+condiments, and then bring it to your car.

They deserve a tip. If you are too lazy to get out of the car, then you should tip as a courtesy for having someone else do the work for you.

My friend works at Applebee's and I don't think she expects a large tip at all, just a dollar or two, if any at all. We use the service as well. We have 4 kids. We never give a "full tip" all they do is bring us our food and MANY times forget extra things (dip, plasticwear, etc). I think if they are prompt, you can give them a dollar or two tip, but nothing more. They don't really have to keep checking on you, bring you napkins, clean up after your child, etc.

No your not "supposed" to tip for Apple-bee's Car-side to go......your right your technically not being waited on....but its just something that would be morally correct you know....when someone does something for you, you should always try n repay them....and with working people like them it would be nice for them to get a tip considering that they probably don't get tips like the waitress or waiters.....it's just something that u might feel good about in the end...you never know that tip might make them feel like they are actually doing something right.....

I would give them $3-4...depending on how much you spend. They are making things easier for you. They ARE waiting on you and they have to go out to your car so you don't have to come in and pick it up yourself. Also, just because you have an infant doesn't mean that you can't go out and enjoy a meal. My husband and I took our son everywhere and taught him manners. He is only 2 1/2 and is great out in public because he is used to it.

I'm not sure if you have to leave a tip, but if I have the cash on me, then I give a $1 tip.

It's just like Sonic. So if you tip at Sonic then yes. It all depends on you. I'm geussing if you're polite you will.

I think "tipping" is something that is expected nowadays which, to me, is outrageous. You don t tip the convenience store clerk or the theater concession stand worker. This is no different.
If you feel you want to tip, then do. If not, then don t.
