I put some bacon and some onion in them, it perks them up. Could use ham, too. A neighbor used to make a main dish out of green beans and potatoes, I would add the onion and either ham or bacon. And there is always green bean casserole. Or try the fancy kind, with sauteed mushrooms and onions and bacon in mushroom soup. Can top it with the traditional Durkee onions.

You can buy dice prepared ham in a small package. Just use a small portion and add salt to taste.

Have you tried dropping a beef boullion cube and one peeled potato (about medium sized) in there with them? My mom always did this and oh my goodness, yum!!! Good Luck.

I use natural 'fine' sea salt and 1 tsp. savory spice on most of my fresh veggies to get that 'restaurant' taste.
