it,s 11 year old my step son did this last year and came to live with me and his dad the social services were very good and listened to what he had to say and took into account what he wanted and not what his mom had to say even though my husband had not seen his son for 8 years because his mom moved round a lot and every time we tried to take her to court she just up and moved again

This answer is pretty much the standard in the US. The age the child can reason. In other words once the request is made in court the judge usually takes the kid(s) into his chambers and asks several questions and if he like the answers and if there is no other legal action that prevents him, he will let the child voice his choosing. I have heard of kids as young as 4 yr old choosing.

I BELIEVE THERE IS NO FIXED AGE,IT DEPENDS ON THE CHILD AND HOW AWARE THEY ARE,MY DAUGHTER WAS 8 AND THEY LISTENED TO HER,BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT Tn IS SO THIS MIGHT NOT APPLY

i don't know what tn is but i think they have to be old enough to understand what is going on. i don't though
