Sleep tips, I was sleeping only 2 to 2 1/2 hours a night and learned to do the following, which worked for me.

Do not eat with in 3 hours of going to sleep.
Have a sleep room. No tv dark, windows keep out light . only go in with the intention of sleeping. It will trigger your sleep mechanism.
Caffeine drinks last 5 hours so don't do that winth that 5 hour time limit.
Get exercize during the day and your body will become sleepy to repair itself. It is natural.
Don't think and make plans of the next day. Make a list to get everything out of your head, You will rest better too .
Do not take any sleep aid every day, only occasionally.
It is well worth it to have a new comfortable bed. Lay on something that feels great and you will be asleep in no time.

It all starts with how active your day is? Take a warm shower in the morning. Try to remain as active as you can, mentally and physically. Drink a lot of water during the day. Keep away from caffeinated and high fructose corn syrup loaded drinks. Brown Sugar is better than white sugar for you tea or coffee. Drink very moderate quantities of coffee or tea. Eat veggies and fruits. Eat whole grain breads and oat meal with jam/marmalade. Be regular with your bowel movements. If you can run or jog in the evening that would help. Take a warm shower [not hot] before you eat supper. Eat supper between 6.30 and 7.00 PM. Sit and do some writing or home work. If you watch TV do that before 9.30 PM. Brush before getting into bed. Wind down, read a good book and slowly fall asleep. A lot of these little things set you up to fall asleep easier and quicker have a calm sleep. You will wake with a fresh feeling. Brush once again, take a shower and you will feel even energized.

Dave S. - good answers! Especially the one about writing down anything in your head so you can put it away and stop worrying about it!

Also keep a gratitude journal. Every night, write at least 3 things that you are grateful for.

Exercise is great, but not in the evening. Best is in the morning or at lunchtime. If you must exercise in the evening, try yoga.
Do deep breathing throughout the day. Learn to meditate.

Also, DO NOT watch television before you go to sleep. Turn off the TV at least 2 hours before your bedtime. Listen to relaxing music or read. Do not have a television or computer in your bedroom. Keep electrical devices at least 6 feet away from your head.

Have some hot tea, relax , read a book. And if your one of those people who lays in bed watching tv for a few hours before going to sleep that may be why its hard for you to fall asleep.

Chamomile tea works best with making you feel asleep instantly. It's 100% natural and it's only known side effect is making you sleepy. Or you could try reading the book you hate most :) that way you would bore yourself to sleep.

read a book or magazine
that always gets me more tired.
but make sure ur lying down.
if ur sitting up, by the time u think ur tired enough to go
to sleep, it might just take you even longer.
good luck.
