these words of Jesus are allegorical. I doubt that any were literally casting pearls before swine. The meaning is pretty simple to figure out; "Do not persist in offering what is sacred or of value to those who have no appreciation for it, because your gift will not only become contaminated and be despised, your generous efforts could also be rebuffed and perhaps even openly attacked."
The "dogs" and "swine" here stand for the unappreciative and worldly; unappreciative and uncaring men and women who belittle the value of what is offered to them. "That which is holy" would be the meat offered in sacrifice to God. A dog could care less whether it came from the altar or the garbage. The swine have no appreciation for either the beauty nor the value of the pearls under their feet.
God Bless You

Matthew 7:6
6"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces
-This goes along with "wiping the dust from your feet" do not continue to push the gospel on someone who is unwilling to hear-but move on. The gospel of Jesus Christ is like a pearl, it is too precious. And yes we should obey it. It is hard at times, in the past I have often gotten into fruitless controversary, and realized I was casting my pearls before swine.....but yes, we should always share the good news, and pray many hear it! Then move on....here on yahoo, many come everyday, so sharing the gospel over and over is good....because new people join everyday!

6Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Yes I believe it. This means if you have salvation dont give it up and turn back to the world because the world will do you no good deeds. In other words if you are a Christian its good to try to tell these hoodlums on here about Christ just dont let what they say to you make you give it all up.

Yes, I believe I understand this, and yes, it should be followed. That's why I'm careful about what I say (and type).

Of course. I will never give the gospel, the good news of God's grace, to a proud self righteous person. Instead I will give him the law. Only when the law has made him humble and ready for the good news of the gospel will I give it to him. Biblical evangelism has always been, without exception, "Law to the proud, and Grace to the humble."
In a forum like this however, including the gospel in an answer when you can is advisable because you never know who might read it, and respond to it.

Yes, this is talking about those who will never believe, you come across those who are just plain mean, fierce and very nasty, these are the ones you just leave alone. If something happens in there life to make them search out the true God, he will direct them to his people. That is why I am a bit selective of what I say on here and what questions I'll answer, I am not going to answer questions to those who are just making fun of there being a God or are being sarcastic with there question. I also seem to have my own little troll following me through here giving me thumbs down before my answer is even typed in just because they obviously don't like Jehovah's Witnesses. Susan J/ the pearls Jesus is talking about are the words of truth from God.

I love these questions where I have to look things up in the Bible. I hear what you are saying and I wonder that myself sometimes. I guess it makes me feel like I have helped someone from time to time, when I get an email thanking me for helping them. That is why I come here. Other times I have felt torn to pieces and it hurts.

There are people that will not accept Christ's words and also those that have different levels of spiritual understanding. It is pointless to teach "hard" truths to those that do not appreciate it.
