If you can, bring in a DJ or small set up band to perform some breakbeats and let some rappers in. I know this isn't the usual poetry slam way, but it definitely breaks the monotony. Have a poetry slam any day, the hump day of the week is not a bad idea. Everybody likes poetry, sometimes the poetry they are given at these slams is a little too much. Find regulars, who will write new material for each week. The work will get better, and poets like to listen to other poets. Perhaps we should all do away with the term "poetry slam," I think it frightens people, especially all of those who listen to the last songs on The Roots albums. We all know being poor sucks, alcoholism sucks, jail sucks, try to find something that will uplift. The Wednesday Night Vocal Press, Spoken Word Wednesdays, Mid-Week Mouth-Off.

It was uneven, and looked poor. yet once you're going for the "scene" seem...than I wager it ought to be stable adequate cuz those haircuts are kinda everywhere the region.
