Because the Democrats in Congress stopped us from drilling in Alaska & most Off Shore.
They want high gas prices.
They want us dependent on foreign oil.

we got all kinds of oil in the lower 48 and Alaska, but we have so many Coward politicians that cower to the special interest groups that they would rather have us get it from the middle east oh by the way its all right to pollute other country's by drilling over their but lets not pollute ours.

There are plenty of ways. Allow drilling in ANWR, build more nuclear power plants, develop better coal liquification techniques...
