As a Christian, I can tell you that no one goes to hell who has lived a good life. Those who tell you otherwise will have a lot to answer for.

Yeah, I really do understand how you feel about this. I hope I can explain it so it seems a bit more fair. When Adam and Eve sinned it caused all mankind to be given a sin nature. So, even though you never sinned as a baby, you still had a sin nature. People don't like this idea. They say, "Oh I'm not that bad", and maybe you are not. But the point is we all have the naturel tendency to rebel against God. Therefore, by not accepting Jesus, you are placing yourself in a position of living the law, just like as if you were in the Old Testament Days, break one and that is it. God is perfect and expects perfection. It is impossible and that is why Jesus came to take our sin nature that was given to us by Adam and by Jesus living the perfect life we now are made sinless by accepting His atoning work of the cross. So, even a nice little old lady who bakes cookies for you, if she is not under Jesus, then she is in Adam. A sinner by birth. No sinner is ever going to Heaven.God can not allow sin into Heaven. However, if the old drunk, reaches the bottom of the barrel and in a sincere heart cries out for Jesus to save Him. Jesus will save the drunk. Because the drunk has passed from the family of Adam to the family of Christ. Where people get confused is if they hear that some rapist and serial killer says I found Jesus. He may very well have found Jesus, but the point is, you have to have a real repented heart, not just lip service to save your butt. God knows our hearts if they are sincere of phoney. I hope this helped.

Well, the assumption that both will go to a place of fiery torment after death is not a Biblical teaching...

Hell:Definition: The word “hell” is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read “the grave,” “the world of the dead,” and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered “hell”; that is, they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she’ohl′ and its Greek equivalent hai′des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind; also the Greek ge′en·na, which is used as a symbol of eternal destruction. However, both in Christendom and in many non-Christian religions it is taught that hell is a place inhabited by demons and where the wicked, after death, are punished (and some believe that this is with torment).

So it would seem that the proper definition of hell is the common grave of dead mankind, so I guess all who die would go there.
However there is a hope which the Bible gives us that there will be a resurrection of the dead in the future and after this coming resurrection, all who did not formerly know god will then have a chance to gain accurate knowledge of him and their judgement will be based upon what they choose after gaining this knowledge. They will not be judged on what they did during this life time because the wages sin pays is death, and upon thier death, that wage was paid. They will not pay twice for this life time.

Romans 6:23: "23 For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord."

Acts 24:15: "15 and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous."

John 5:28 & 29: "28 Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."

Psalm 37: 9-11, 29: "For evildoers themselves will be cut off,
But those hoping in Jehovah are the ones that will possess the earth. 10 And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace. 29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
And they will reside forever upon it'

It would be good to search your Bible for the truthful teachings about these things, it can really set you free from false teachings which can only confuse you, and make you think that God is unfair, and he isn't. It is not possible for God to be unfair.

Actually, God is very fair. He states very clearly that the only way to go to heaven is by accepting His Son as Savior and Lord.

It would be unfair for Him to change the rules from time to time. He has said, frequently, that works do not get us into heaven. The "nice old lady" is as much a sinner as the drunkard. The only difference is that the drunkard accepted Christ and the lady rejected Him.

Once again, No one, not nobody not no how, is good enough for heaven. When Adam & Eve sinned it was an unbelievably serious offense. Humans are prideful and selfish. But Jesus lived a sinless life and took our punishment for us. Se we don't have to go to hell even though that is what we deserve, if we trust in him. However I do believe there are different levels, for lack of a better word, of hell.

I'm not a good one for this question because I believe the Love of God is so far-reaching that, one way or another, God will get everyone but the Devil into heaven. All will be enlightened, repent before His Majesty's throne, and accept Christ when they stand before God at the last...that's what I believe.

Play my silly game.

You and Koby Briant are both going to swim to an island 200 miles off the coast. Koby runs twice as fast as you do and jumps twice as far as you do. Does he get there first? You are going to need a boat. It does not matter what you do. It is all about who you know.

And just to clarify. If your little old lady never heard about GOD;s law then she is not under the law. Jesus is a righteous judge with all the facts. If she rejected Jesus then she has sealed her own fate regardless of how good she appeared to be.

Shalom.

Now let's look at God's reasoning here.

In the Bible, God says the wages of sin is death.

It also says that "All have fallen short."

Therefore, all deserve hell, whether it be Hitler or the little old lady.

Of course, God offered us a way out of it through His son Jesus. But that's another topic.

God is just. The wages of sin is death and eternal punishment. Some will receive a worse judgment than others. As to the drunkard he received one of the worst punishments form God. But Jesus took that punishment on Himself on the cruel death on the cross so his punishment is paid. That is justice and mercy.

Your eternal life is determined by you say that Jesus is - not by anything else.
There is not one good, not one. We have all sinned - lied, stolen, cheated, you name it, and as sinners ( a nice old lady or Hitler, as you put it) we are all the same in that we need forgiveness and mercy that we cannot earn on our own - only God can do that, and he has through faith, belief and trust in Jesus. There is not one worthy - but Jesus who paid our price has opened the way through his death and resurrection, but we have to embrace that truth, or we remain separated from God by sin (our choice to sin).

The degree of punishment will be commensurate with one's sin against the light which one has received.
One good passage that indicated degrees of punishment is Luke 12:47-48: "That servant who know his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be BEATEN WITH MANY BLOWS. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be BEATEN WITH FEW BLOWS. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked". Other verses on this issue include MAT 10:15; 16:27; Rev. 20:12,13; 22:12.
Jesus affirmed that the wicked "will go away to ETERNAL punishment, but the righteous to ETERNAL life" (Mat 25:46)

The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The problem is that the human race is sinful; we all reject this knowledge of God and rebel against Him (Romans 1:21-23). Apart from God's grace, God would give us over to the sinful desires of our hearts, allowing us to discover how useless and miserable life is apart from Him. This He does for those who reject Him (Romans 1:24-32).the problem is that they have rejected what they have heard and what is readily seen in nature. Deuteronomy 4:29 proclaims, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” This verse teaches an important principle: everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known.
The problem is, “there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God” (Romans 3:11). People reject the knowledge of God that is present in nature and in their own heart, and instead decide to worship a “god” of their own creation. It is foolish to debate the fairness of God sending someone to hell who never had the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Christ. People are responsible to God for what God has already revealed to them. The Bible says that people reject this knowledge, and therefore God is just in condemning them to hell.
