My Mum has Bowel cancer with secondaries of the liver and was diagnosed last summer,she's doing really well and the liver tumours are responding to chemo,but I know once it gets into your bones that's a whole different matter!! Ask a consultant as each patient/cancer & treatment differs.

By secondary, you must mean metastatic. The answer is very different for each type of primary cancer. Ask your hematologist/oncologist for these numbers.

Commonly asked question, after lots of Metastases the chances of survival are grim i.e. extremely poor prognosis.
If you are asking about approximate time of death, I have seen people walking off the Ventilators, with virtually zero chances of survival chances & vice versa.
The best thing you can do at your end is good nursing care, to ease his pains which are excruciating.
