I used to use AVG, but virus still got through.
I now use Avast AntiVirus on my three computers and laptop, and have done for over 18 months. Family and friends also use Avast now, without any problems.
i am sure you won't take my advice and use avast though, seeing as there are so many people saying "AVG"

There are probably two that run neck-and-neck: AVG 7.5 Free Edition and Avast! 4.7 Free Edition. I run both on my comp and there's no conflict between them.
For more info about security and links to free security software go to http://www.mbusbyuk.info/security.html
Good Luck!

As someone has already said, its a close call between AVG and avast, I run AVG on my desktop and avast on my laptop and I've never had any problems!

AVG Anti-virus
Download from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5
Very easy to use, regular automatic updates and doesn't use up many system resources so won't slow your PC.

I want to know the best antivirus software you can get, free or not. Surely if you want your pc/laptop in one piece you are willing to pay?
