Well, my sister is 5'1 (five foot one). My mom is shorter than my dad, and my grandpa and uncle are about two heads taller than both of them are. MY dad is 5'11 and my mom is 5'6. If weight matters, my sister weighs 60pounds.

She could end up a bit taller than your mother.

At ten I was 4'11". My mother was 5'5" and my father 5'11".

I ended up 5'9".
My sister ended up about 5"6" tall.

BUT there were MANY very tall people on both sides of my family including women around six feet tall and men between 6'3" all the way up to 6'7" in the not too distant past.

There is a formula that says a girl will usually end up somewhere between the father and mother in height if there is a wide spread in height. I'm not sure about the formula for boys.

Looks like she'll be pretty tall, especially if you have tall women in your family as well as tall men.

An orthopedist can do x-rays on her hips and look at the growth plates and determine how much taller she will become. But that would only be done if she is having problems.

It also depends on your grandparent's height. There are dominant and recessive genes, like blue eyes and brown eyes. For example, brown is the dominant. Let's say you have a parent that has brown eyes, with the genotype being BB. That person had a child with someone that has a recessive genotype, being bb (blue eyes). If they had a child, it is going to have brown eyes no matter what, since B is a dominant gene. If the first parent's genotype was Bb, then they could form a blue eyed child (but only if the little b from the first parent joined with the other lowercase b's from the secpnd parent). See what I'm saying here?

So if both of grandparents had a TT genotype, (T standing for tall) then your father would be tall. If both of your mother's parents have Tt, then she could end up tall, small, or in-between. So let's say your mother ended up being in-between (Tt), and your father is tall (TT). The possible combinations for your sister would be TT, Tt. So she will either end up in-between (5'6") or tall (5'11").

Wait until she hits puberty 'cuz its the period where height is usually dramtically affected (means she'll grow the most in length in her teen years).
