You could possibly have OCD tendencies without having a clinical case of OCD. Alot of people have quirks and do things that could be perceived as OCD.

As a diagnosed person with OCD I can tell you there are certain signs: upsetting, intrusive thoughts that keep running through your mind repeatedly followed by ritualist, compulsive behavior that you perform in an unconscious effort to relieve the anxiety. Some people are pure O's meaning that they only have the unpleasant thought but with no compulsions...

The most common forms of OCD are: cleaning/washing generally due to fear of contamination and disease, checking compulsions, hoarding, counting rituals, fear that you may have harmed someone or killed them (an example would be a person who keeps going back and checking the road to make sure they didn't run someone over with their car) etc...

OCD is very complex. You need to see a psychologist for a formal diagnosis and then try cognitive behavioral therapy. If that isn't enough you can try medications for the conditions. Many of them can be very brutal. I have tried Anafranil, Prozac, Effexor XR and many other SSRIs and antianxiety drugs to no avail...

Good luck...

Obsessing is thoughts, and compulsions usually result from the obsessing. You have to ask yourself, does this take up over an hour of my day? Just because you're obsessive about certain things in your life does not mean you have OCD. I've asked myself the same question, and I might, but I try not to let it get in the way of my relationships with other people or my health. Try going to the online site www.ocfoundation.org/ and read up on it, if it doesn't interfere with your everyday living, I wouldn't worry about it. But if some things really bother you, or you're getting depressed because of it, see a doctor. ^_- nothing beats a pro. (P.S. it doesn't have to do with keeping things in order, I'm the messiest person I know, and yet I have the hand washing problem. *shrugs* it differs from person to person)

There are different types. I wouldn't go trusting a friend or family member for a diagnosis if they have no formal medical training or a doctors license. You need to see a psychiartrist. By the way constantly repeating things is more compulsive, and NOT OCD. Its a form of Tourette's.

many people with ocd live normal healthy lives. What makes you think you have it. I always want to wash my hands but that does not mean I have ocd. You would need a doctor to diagnose it. Just talk with your mom. Tell her your concerns. I am sure you have nothing to worry about.

i hate this.

everyone has things that they do compulsively, or that they obsess about. but it doesnt mean you have it.

when it starts to interfear with your social life and mental health, than thats when you should start considering seeing somone.

I CAN GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE: WHEN YOU CLEAN YOUR HOUSE AND YOU HAVE PLACE EVERYTHING WHERE IT SHOULD BE, AND EVERY THREE HOURS OR LESS YOU CLEAN THE SAME THINGS AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS IN THE SAME PLACE EVERY DAY. AND IF SOME ONE MOVE THINGS YOU CAN NOT SLEEP OR EAT UNTIL YOU PLACE EVERYTHING BACK IN THE SAME PLACE.

if you have uncontrollable urges to do things like wash your hands, and no matter how hard you try to not give in to the impulses, the impulse is so great you have to give in
