Rhema Directory (link below). Most of these churches are non denominational. They are more upbeat. Vineyard churches (link below)are non denominational. They are more of a type of church rather than a denomination.

There is no such thing as a non-denominational church. A denomination is defined by a set of beliefs. What church doesn't have a specific set of beliefs that they consider acceptable? If a church doesn't associate itself with any of the major mainline denominations, it isn't non-denominational. It is simply a new denomination, one more division in Christianity, one more deviation from the stated will of God, "that they all may be ONE".

alot of churches call themselves 'community churches' or something of that sort... and lots may seem or even be 'non-denominational' but some are under the blanket of maybe an Evangelical Free church or baptist...

the best way to find a church is to try them out.. one by one... go and ask for a copy of their faith statement... and church information... you can start in the yellow pages and work your way down from one church to the next that looks 'non-denom'... it is hard to find a church family that is Bible based and not 'man rules' based.

Even if a church is not a member of a denomination, they still need to sort out what they believe. I haven't found many that are true to Scripture, and they don't like my pointing that out! Salvation is from the Almighty YHVH, not from a "Church".

Lakewood Church in Houston is a cult; it's part of a movement called New Thought that is a form of metaphysics...also known as the Word of Faith movement. Osteen got it from his dad, who got it from Ken Hagin, founder of Rhema (in Tulsa, Oklahoma).

The United Pentecostal Church is also a cult; considered as such because it denies the Holy Trinity as believed by 2000 years of Christianity.

These are the reasons you should beware of independent churches...there are good reasons for their independence.
