It depends on the installation method and hardwood product you use for the application. Hardwood flooring will expand when exposed to heat. Hardwood flooring can be installed over radiant heat. A proper size expansion gap for the product around the perimeter of the room will prevent the floor from buckling. Engineered hardwood is the most dimensionally stable hardwood to install over heated floors.

If there is water, a hard wood floor will warp. More than a heater you should worry if the bathroom or kitchen water may leak onto the floor.

I have seen warpage from being near a window that leaked the rain onto the floor. Also pets that use the floor for the bathroom, if not wiped up will stain the floor.

Hardwood floor in winter or summer is nice to walk barefoot, but scratches from careless moving of the furniture, rough kids and pets, and of course leaving water on the floor will ruin the beauty of hardwood floors....
