When i am playing paintball outside in a foot of snow and the temperature is around 10 degrees farhenheit my tippmann 98 custom starts making the noise that the Co2 is out. All of my friends Co2 do not mess up. None of theirs even start to make the noise until it is all the way out. Is the cold the reason or is it the gun? I know the cold probably plays a factor but I do not think it should run a 9 ounce Co2 out in about 40 shots.

Co2 works better in warmer temps.
The colder it is outside, the lower your power becomes.
A rule of thumb is, subtract 2-3 fps (feet per second) per
degree of temp drop. So, if your gun shoots 600 fps at 60
degrees, it'll be around 540-560 at 40 degrees.
Then again, because it's cold, your seals might be cracking.
Which is why you're losing so much power and Co2.
Keep your seals lubed, you won't have that problem.

It is possible your CO2 is out. In cold weather, make sure your CO2 is warm enough, but not too hot, or else your CO2 will become white and come out the barrell of the gun. My advice would be to stop playing for a while, and wrap it in a couple blankets to bring up the temperature.

Just a thought here. While cold temperatures will effect the out put pressure of your paintball gun, I'd also look at the possibility of old or deteriorating seals. They also are affected by cold temps.

use a co2 warmer.. might sound corny but they do make them its like a cozy for it :) I've used em and the only time mine ever messed up like that is when the co 2 was close to being out..also make sure that the paint balls aren't freezing that have something to do with it either that or check your trigger.

Yes, sir. That's why you either play indoors in the winter or use another source of whatever you call it for your guns. Such as air.
