I find it really odd - couldn't they go before they left home, or wait until they get back? The toilets always stink.

Melrose - I pushed my daughter out very very quickly and damaged the muscles in my bladder. I couldn't wee without a catheter for about 3 weeks afterwards! Yuk.

Of course the real reason is as follows:-

> Stimuli in supermarket > smelling, seeing, or thinking about food (I don't think we would disagree with that would we)

> Gastrocolic reflex > When we eat (or smell or think about) food, peristaltic waves (gastrocolic reflex) are triggered in the intestines to move existing food remnants and fecal material in the intestine down to prepare for the new meal. Which is why one needs to have a bowel movement, often not long after eating.

> Not only are all these stimuli present in supermarkets, but eating food is the strongest stimuli. If you look at a diagram of the abdominal area, the [full] stomach literally presses down on the lower intestines (the gastro-colic reflex) to move food along. This is why when you house train babies and puppies, you put them on a potty or outside after food to help them learn and to reinforce the connection between eating and pooing.

Most people don't seem to have breakfast (so no pooing before the supermarket) but do like their '11'ses, and that is why the loos in supermarkets smell of no.2's because of all the stimuli in the supermarket, which makes them go, and the cafeteria, which makes them go even more.

It's sooooo nasty when people dump in the public washrooms, what kind of problem do these people have?

That is a very common problem....I thought it was from the epidural (that numbs the bladder and the same thing happens)
3 weeks is a long time (in hospital)???
You must have been freaking out!! :)

It's probably the employees that are stinking up the bathrooms. They're at work, no other place to go. Plus, most grocery stores have employees cleaning the restrooms, so you can imagine how excited they are to keep the place clean (yeah, right). It's just a bad situation that keeps getting worse, you know?

I dont think I have ever been to the toilets at a supermarket. I never take a dump in a public toilet unless I really need to coz most public toilets arent nice and are usually dirty.

Personally I always manage to control myself until I get home but maybe same people just get caught short. Suppose its a case if you got to go, you got to go.

They save them up for the supermarket bogs so they dont have to use so much of their own loo roll!
