An atheist who has kids and loves his family, helps out the community by picking up trash, coaches his son's baseball team, and cares about his family more than anything.. will burn in hell for eternity after he dies.

...and the mass murderer who has done nothing but evil his entire life but 'finds christ' on his death bed, goes to heaven. Yeah, there's a belief system for a person with intelligence (sarcasm aplenty) Of course it isn't true. Congratulations on being smart enough to see it.

Think of it this way. For most Christians, hell is complete separation from God. Therefore "going to hell" is not related to how good or bad a person behaves but whether or not they are in a right relationship with God. This atheist has no desire to be involved with God and so from a Christian perspective they will get their wish. When they die they will remain separated from God. That is what Christians call hell.

Yup. Kind of makes you realize why so many people turn atheist or agnostic everyday. If there is a heaven you should get in based on your merits and not your beliefs.

From a Buddhist perspective... no. If he/she has cultivated altruism, has done nothing to cause harm or suffering, or cultivated enlightenment for themselves won't take rebirth in a hell realm.

sorry...if he doesn't believe in heaven and hell then thats up to him but it's not going to change the fact that he is going to burn in hell...it suck, I know. But since he doesn't believe in either he wont know what he is missing
