So I broke up a fight between my cat and my parent's cat earlier today. My cat was in a frenzy and kind of attacked my head. I have a few puncture spots behind my ears on both sides. I think I've heard about some kind of infection or something that can occur. Is that true and is there anything I should do? It doesn't hurt anymore, just stung for the first little while.

Are the wounds from the kitty's nails or teeth? I have found that a scratch wound is far less likely to become infected than a bite wound, but even a scratch can benefit from a swabbing with hydrogen peroxide.
If it's a bite, deeply irrigate the wounds with the peroxide today, and then apply Neosporin on them for several days. I'm treating a bite wound on my hand right now in this manner. You should be fine.

Congrats on the new cat! And advance congrats on your new vet! You are going to want to have a vet if you plan on keeping the cat. Rabies vaccine can be done at discount places in some cities. Many of the spay/neuter clinics offer vaccine days. You need to at least get him vaccinated to protect him AND you-medicaly and liability-wise. You really need to at least have a vet give your new baby a 'once over' to make sure there are no serious issues rumbling in the background. some wounds from fights heal without a problem, but as another person says-abcess(an ugly thing that can be treated and avoid a huge problem) You didn't say if the area was sort of raised/puffy. You said it's not healing-this means there is a problem. Get your baby in to a vet like within the next day!

Hope you're feeling better. If all you received were scratches, you should be fine. However, if you were bitten, you should really keep an eye on it and call the doctor if it becomes inflamed and doesn't go down in a day or so. When a cat bites, they are essentially injecting bacteria from their mouths which is what causes infection. In fact, that is what often kills their prey as well.

I work for an animal clinic and get attacked all the time lol. What i do is wash it with warm water and antibicterial hand soap a lot during the day keep them coverd if you can if not put neosporin on them and just keep them clean all the time. Cats can spread infections and easily but ive been ok.

After 4 days I hope you and the cats are better. Regular peroxide should do the trick, then some triple anti-biotic for faster healing. What is being done so these two don't encounter another mishap? And you as well.

I would definitely watch this. Wash the area and put some Polysporin on it (or some kind of antibiotic ointment). If it starts to get red or inflamed or starts hutring again, see your doctor. Cats carry feces under their nails (hence the scratching to cover their own feces) which is the major spread of bacteria. Just keep a close eye on it! Hope this helps!!

i would clean it with rubbing alcohol, you should be okay if you bathe your cat regularly and give it all of its vaccinations
