OK, so assuming there is life after death (which is a pretty important issue facing spirituality and religion), do you think that free will exists after death as well? One of the reasons that good deeds done are good is that the person doing it CHOSE to do so. In Heaven, where there is no sin, it seems like the impact of good deeds would be reduced dramatically. (Vice versa for Hell.) So what do you think?

OK, no one has really answered the question so far. I'm asking if sin is only sinful if you choose to commit it, and good deeds are only good if you choose to do them.

Jomi, questions are much easier to answer when you don't think about them, aren't they?

I think "free will" will be unnecessary after death for the simple fact that our existence is no longer in the realm of physical beings. As spirits, we are formless with no substance...it is not that we cease to exist but our awareness of our existence ceases. Therefore, without awareness, there is no need for "free will" or even simple thought, since all of it would be superfluous and inconsequential.

i am told there is free will .... we are not puppets
however although there is free will there is also a greater understanding of the natural laws ( karma etc )
so we would know how to apply that for our spiritual progression

p.s I dont believe in hell ... for the above reason

If there is free will after death, wouldn't every one freely choose heaven?

And if they freely chose hell, wouldn't god be immoral for letting them make a choice like that? Here on earth we'd stop a person if they set themself on fire. Hell, we'd go to court if we DIDN'T try to stop them. Why would it be "moral" for god to allow that?

What will happen after death is not know exactly. It is apparent that you believe something. What does your belief system tell you? Are you looking for a comparative analysis?

Good point. I think heaven has free will. Because, Satan chose selfishness before he chose not to serve God.

In heaven you will have the same mind as Christ. So, no matter what you choose to do it will all fall in the will of God. Our only desire will be to do what pleases God and we will be the object of God's love and affection. Adam had the same mindset when he lived in the garden. But exposure to sin, caused him to fall.

Your Free Will dies with you. Like your body that decays and goes back to dust where you came from, your spirit joins your creator who is a great spirit and so you become one with Him.

You will have free will always. But until ones free will is aimed at pleasing God, you will continue to appear as you are.

There will be no need for free will after death, because after death, there are no unbelievers. Every knee WILL bow, and every tongue WILL confess, that JESUS IS LORD!

I gave up my free will so that I might live. Now I live in the will of Our Father and will forever do so.
