Hi This is how I make it and its delish, Get about 3 eggs whisk them up, melt some butter (or healthy option Low fat spread) salt and pepper, cut your bread into triangles better with no crusts and white bread, then put the bread into the mixture, making sure that the bread is covered both sides, fry in a hit pan in vegetable oil, and then just ENJOY

If you mean French toast or "pain perdue", as the French say, then look at the above posts.
If you mean a bread with eggs in it, check for a challah recipe (Jewish or bread cookbooks.) Or brioche--an eggy French bread recipe.
If you mean toad-in-the-hole, melt some butter in a skillet or on a griddle. Put down a piece of bread, preferably a sourdough or something fairly dense. The bread has a hole cut in it. Put the hole next to the slice of bread. Crack an egg in the hole. Wait until the egg is cooked on the first side, flip it over, and grill on the other side until it's done to your liking. Flip the hole, too. That gives you grilled toast with an egg in the middle.

If you mean french toast/eggy bread/pain perdu/cholla...
- in a shallow dish, lightly beat two eggs with a dash of milk - add a dash of salt if you plan to serve it with savouries or sugar/granulated sweetner for sweeter tooths
- lay slices of open-textured bread in the mix - brioche is very good for this - until they've just soaked in a little way.
- Flip and soak just to the centre, but not so much it starts to disintegrate.
- fry in a hot pan.
- sweet toppings can be anything from simple dusting of sugar to strawberries, apple compote, whatever you feel like (though a slightly sharp fruit / fruit mix should help cut through the greasiness.)
- savoury: has been used everywhere from N'awlins street bars to Michelin-starred restaurants as a base for savoury items. try grilled spicy sausage and a piperade (hot tomato & pepper salsa).

Are you looking for more of a brioche dough or portugese sweet bread, both are soft and sweet. There is also Challah, the traditional way is to put some saffran in the water to give the bread the color that you see in the supermarket. I hope one of these recipes are what you are looking for.

Try the up market way. Get brioche and lightly fry in butter, then layer in dish. Add fruit, dried or fresh, on the top, then add another layer. Beat 3 eggs up with a little vanilla flavouring, and pour over the brioche , grate over nutmeg or cinnamon and bake in oven until brown.
