As a senior in high school I learned about Taoism, Confucionism, Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism...
We were also forced to read a lot of the bible, and I know of someone from the class above us that failed the class just because he refused to read it.

In some places they do. A Comparative Religion was taught in my High School. Which I did not take but had no problem with it being taught.
Liberal Arts majors can satisfy some of their requirements by taking religion and or philosophy.

In public school, they teach an array of classes. In religion the student is taught about the religion. It's not worship time.
If you ban classes on the basses of what people "like" then I doubt the school would teach anything. You would ban religion, I would ban Art, others would ban French. These classes are electives and not mandatory.
I don't find a school offering such classes to be in violation of separation of church and state.
I would prefer to teach and enlighten children than worrying about 40 kids taking a survey course on religion with our tax dollar.

because school is for science and math and reading and such. religion does not belong there.
i do however applaud your desire to learn about many religions as a Pagan i would encourage you to go to a library and start with the big four.
Christianity
Islam
Hindu
Buddahist.
in these religions many aspects of all religions can be seen and studied. after that the greek and roman religions are very interesting and the Shamanic traditions of India and Siberia are also good study points.

We do in the UK - its a pretty good idea and at least gives you a vague outline of what the various mainstream religions believe. They don't convert you they just inform you like learning history or geography

The religion of evolution is taught thoroughly in every school! It's just a pagan religion that's all.

Yes, why not! Oh, excuse me, the church of Atheism manipulates our government. That must be it! Just because they don't consider themselves a religion doesn't mean that they aren't organized.

my girl is 15 and is to give her class a talk about Wicca and spiritualism as the teacher isn't knowledgeable enough in each
and they actively encourage this
and they have friends of all religions and all respecting each other
