Any fluids counts as water since almost every liquid has water as it's main base ingredient.

No it doesn't count as water. Gatorade is close but it is not the same as good old water. Juices are filled with sugar and the water in the juices is mostly used to process them through the body.

The current RDA for water intake is about 1/2 ounce per pound of body weight, per day. i.e. A 100 lbs person should drink 50 ounces per day.

Exercise, caffine, sugar and alcohol consumption increase the need for water.

On the other hand, too much water can be bad. Having the proper nutrients and electrolytes is important too.

Every single process and cell in the body needs water. When you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated. You should drink water moderately throughout the day and evening.

I've always heard that drinking water is the best thing to drink because it cleanses the body. Unlike juices and Gatorade, water does not have sugar in it (unless it is flavored water). Most dietitians I've seen on TV say that drinking water is best as appose to any other type of drink.

I did see a special on one of these news channels and they were reporting that when people do drink liquids such as Gatorade and such that they should drink it through a straw so the sugar doesn't stain the teeth. They did some study on it and found it to work.

And as you know the usual, drinking water helps when one goes to the restroom. Clear is better than the other color. Makes sense to me! I'm guilty of indulging in juices to. Hope this helps you.

Well you have named all the 3 drinks that are not exactly healthy.
Milk..not good for adults digestion unless you own your own cow.
Gatorade- full of sugar
Juice full of sugar. The body needs water especially without sugar but these are your choices. You asked so just throwing this out there. 8 glasses of water per day for a healthy body. you can have occasional juice or gatorade but make a new start and drink water.

Those juices and Gatorade are hydrating, but water is the best hydrator by far! You don't HAVE to drink 8 glasses of it a day, but it really is better than sports drinks and juices that may contain sugar and other stuff you don't know about.

I drink very little water and haven't for as long as I can remember and I don't know of any problems I have had for that reason. I drink mostly diet caffeine free drinks.
You could possibly have problems with high glucose from drinking just juices and Gatorade.
Just drink liquids of some kind to keep from getting dehydrated.

You need water or you will die. No matter if you take other juices, have a least 3 glasses a day as well as your other drinks.

Kidney malfunction and bad skin for starters. Personal question - what color is your urine? If it's yellow, you're in trouble. If it's nearly clear, you're getting enough water.

There have been times when water was unhealthy so people invented beer and wine, but their life expectancy was like 35, so there has to be a connection.
